I completed the Computer Networking certification program at CT State Community College in December 2024. The program provided hands-on training in network engineering, system architecture, and network administration, featuring courses like Network Security, Networking 1–2, and Windows Server Administration. I developed practical skills such as implementing encryption protocols, configuring permissions, creating VPNs, segmenting networks, and managing cross-platform devices.

Campus and vibes

Current Student

On warm days, I often studied on the New Haven Green, just a five-minute walk from campus. Downtown New Haven is vibrant, offering food, nightlife, and entertainment. Toad’s Place, a music venue on York Street just 15 minutes from campus, hosts live events nearly every week for all ages.

Current Student

For the most part, Gateway Campus has been a positive experience for me. The academic staff is helpful, individualized counseling is provided, and a feeling of community is fostered by the friendly campus atmosphere. The array of educational resources at my disposal, including libraries and tutoring centers, has been crucial to my success in my classes.

Current Student

The emphasis on student involvement is one of the features that I value the most. I've had the chance to participate in extracurricular activities that have improved my learning outside of the classroom, like the Student Leaders Lab Schools Investments Initiative. More specialized assistance, especially in the form of individualized counseling and opportunities for practical experience, is something I would like to see available to students pursuing specialized fields like art therapy.

My experience was eye-opening, going into Gateway CC from being an individual working in a trade was a scary but fun and new experience. I knew I didn't want to be doing HVAC for the rest of my life so I decided to go to school. But I came to school with a plan, to make the Gateway CC basketball team and to join the GAP program to transfer to UConn.

Current Student

I ended up making the basketball team, this opportunity not only helped me make new friends and learn new life lessons along the way but also showed me truly how hard it is to balance 5 classes with practice and work. As far as the GAP program went, it was an amazing opportunity to have a chance of guaranteed admission to my dream school, UConn.

I love GCC. It was such a seamless transition from high school and very affordable. I do wish there were more clubs and extracurriculars but that would really be my only suggestion. Otherwise, it is a fantastic school.
