Professors

Galen is a great school. I received my undergraduate degree from NSCC and was able to transfer all pre reqs in after passing the teas. Four years ago I finished my Bachelors degree at a local HBCU and let me just say Galen is top tier. From the time of application, registration, enrollment, starting classes, and reaching out for help.... I work a full time job (40+ hrs) while attending classes and have been able to maintain at least a 3.0. Galen has built in resources to help every step of the way.

Student

They're much more prepared, both skills wise and textbook knowledge. If you have any respect for yourself and want the best for your future, go somewhere else. Even if you have to be waitlisted, it would probably be worth it. Other private universities offer a better education for the same price, yet are not riddled with scandals and lawsuits.

Campus and vibes

Student

I know that Galen has a lot of bad reviews, but personally I enjoyed my time at Galen in the Richmond, VA campus. I liked how small the campus was so it was easy for us to get a hold of our instructors, our dean was always present, the down side was that on the final semester we don’t have practicum, just another med surg clinical, but I didn’t mind since I’m already an LPN, but it would be nice for the traditional ADN/BSN students to have practicum to feel more independent outside the classroom setting.... Second it is costly, even if financial aid, I still paid out of pocket for 2 semester, but they do have payment plan options so if you can’t pay it all in one shot they can help you.

Student

This is the BEST decision I made leaving the previous program I was in to come here! The instructors are great invested in your success! It is a positive environment. They do everything fairly and I like that! You want a good school this is the place to go!

FYI they make you become an LVN 12 months w/No choice…..Plus another 8+ months for the ADN(still an LVN) and then another 18+ months or so for your RN BSN……Thats quite some time and probably close to 100k if not more…..I found a School that i can get my ADN and RN in 18 months total…..Do the research and don’t let a fancy facility blind you!

Student

The enrollment rate is high because they make money and that is the sole focus. I didn't expect it to be easy, but this was ridiculous and unfair. The other point I want to detail is that we were told catheter training was only going to be once for now because" catheters kits are just too much money for us to keep practicing for CPE check off".
