College sophomore

I told my admissions advisor that I filed my FASFA for the college. She responded the same day and told me that the financial aid office would contact me shortly. After, about 20 mins I received an email from my financial aid officer; we were able to discuss most questions through emails and phone calls. However, when I had my official visit my family and I sat down with her in her office. She then pulled paperwork showing values to the exact cent of how much aid I would receive and what my final bill would be. Nothing has changed since then, and getting those figures on paper before you decide to enroll really helps with your decision.

I was a part time student the past year, and I will be attending as a full-time student this fall. Houghton is a beautiful place with thriving student life. There are events every night, and I highly recommend going to Koin on Sunday nights. You are not a number at Houghton. It's small enough where you recognize everyone's face, but you still have plenty of opportunities and resources at your disposal. The professors are amazing. They are there for their students and they want to help you succeed. My time as a part time student only solidified my desire to go to Houghton.

Student

My overall experience with Houghton University has been very positive so far. The campus is peaceful, the faculty are supportive, and the environment encourages personal and academic growth. I appreciate the small class sizes, which allow for more interaction with professors and classmates. The community is welcoming, and I feel safe and valued. One thing I would love to see improved is more career support services for international students and better internet access in some areas of campus. Overall, it’s a great place to grow academically and spiritually.

Student

Houghton is a great school. The atmosphere is uniquely open and welcoming. It is a very particular setting, though; students who enjoy partying or prefer places with access to big shopping areas may not be happy here. If you're satisfied with small-town life and a Christ-centered environment, you'll be happy. The forests are breathtaking, the classes are interesting, and the professors are engaging. Student life is enthusiastic and we usually have several events per week.
