Student reviews

Professors

Student

Kankakee Community College has been a great community college for me, a freshman to start off at. The classes provided are helpful for helping me reach my goal to transfer to another college. I would like to see more activities for students to participate with on campus to help get to know other students.

It is a nice place to get General Education classes out of the way when trying to transfer to another school. They have many programs that will help others find jobs after graduating college. They even try to compare classes that need to get done before the transfer so they help you not pay as much at the University colleges.

I began taking classes at KCC when I was still a Junior in high school. I went for a total of 3 years and left with my associates in radiologic technology. I felt every class more than prepared me for going out into the real world and getting a job in my field. I’m very glad I had the opportunity to go to a community college since I did not have a lot of money to start out.

I am part of the Fastpath program, which is all 8 week classes. It goes by very fast but it's extremely rewarding and satisfying to complete. Teachers so far for me have all been extremely good. The disability office at KCC is also super accommodating.

Campus and vibes

Student

Overall I had a great first year at Kankakee Community College. The professors were always super helpful and easy to reach. The police staff were always on campus and I always felt safe. Despite it being such a small school, the building and staff are really great and there was also many opportunities and activities for students to get involved in.

I recently started in this college but I have too many good references about it because my boyfriend and sister-in-law were graduates from this college, that's why I'm here to get my first experience as a student inKakankee Community College, I know this college has the best teachers and professional people that offer help to everyone if need it. Giving the best of them to make excellent graduates.

Student

Amazing small, feel like family campus atmosphere! Lots of options to get help to navigate all areas of college life, free tutoring, financial resources, food pantry, recreation area available most days!

Student

I love KCC! I chose this college because it’s affordable, close to my home, and the overall vibe is amazing. The teachers go above and beyond with their students, seeing them as people with individual needs and struggles, instead of just as a statistic. Additionally, the education meets every standard and I’ve frequently found that it offers more opportunities than other, bigger schools. Overall, it’s amazing and I’m so glad I chose KCC for my Associate of Arts degree!

Cost and value

Student

KCC is a great start for those looking to get college done cheap. The professors are down-to-Earth, have high office hours availability, and will do everything in their power to help you succeed, both as a student and as an individual. The low tuition does show in the student experience, however; there are few specialized rooms for specific classes, and the number of academic programs is quite limited. In general, though, KCC will provide what most students need in their first two years of college.

Student

You can't beat the price for a quality education like this. I transferred from a four-year university that I hated and was paying way to much money for. Since coming here, I feel much more comfortable in this environment and with the price.
