Professors

Sophomore

My freshman year voice and speech teacher ended up being in a show on Broadway! But, I needed more rigorous acting training, so I applied to many schools in NYC and ended up getting accepted to my dream school: NYU Tisch School of the Arts for a Drama BFA. The only problem is, for transfers, it's insanely expensive to go there.

Freshman

I have several issues with this school, and so did many of my peers. I enrolled as a music student for the fall of 2021 studying for a Bachelors Degree in Music Education. 2 weeks after I enrolled and began my first semester of college, the administration unfairly and unjustly froze my major along with several other fine arts majors.

Campus and vibes

Freshman

LIU has a lot of commuters, which makes the weekends very dead feeling if you live on campus like me. I enjoy having access to athletic facilities, even as a non student-athlete. The campus is gorgeous, with lots of flowering trees. Overall I enjoy my time at LIU, but if you want to have a social life you have to put in some work to get involved, since the school isn’t a big party school.

Freshman

LIU has a lot of students who commute or leave for weekends and the social life is not what I expected. Friends at other Universities tell me that their schools have many sports and social events. Turnout for sporting events at the school is low. My guidance counsellor has changed 3 times in two years. I have made many friends at LIU and love participating in my sport. With regards to cost. LIU is high compared to public colleges and ones in other states like PA. I have heard Sports scholarships only apply to tuition. They do not give any sports scholarship funding for Housing and Food ( perhaps scholarships for housing and food are kept secret). Housing and Food for LIU is $26,000 per year. If I was to complain about anything, this is it. Food is average and the dorms are older so, it seems like a high price. The classrooms are good and the buildings are not too far away from each other so travel between classes is not bad. Important, LIU seems like a very safe place.

Student

LIU was overall an okay experience. If you participated in extracurriculars it was very easy to make friends and form genuine connections. Everyone in Greek life was extremely close to one another, regardless of which sorority/frat you were affiliated with. The class sizes were small and the professors were vey nice, which made the learning experience quite painless. However, I feel that the quality of the education received could have been a little better given the cost of tuition. I also think the university didn

Student

My experience at this school has been absolutely terrible. The administration is very unorganized and lazy. They are very greedy and will do anything to add an extra charge to your already overpriced bill. The food is horrible and the living conditions are below average. The school is understaffed and there is barely any help.

Junior

Long Island university is an amazing place to start your degree it is easy to apply and the staff is very helpful they walked you through the process and makes everything so simple . The professors at excellent they are very thorough and super helpful. They always wants what’s best for their student and try to make sure everyone did well. I will strongly recommend anyone to attend Long Island university. I am sure you wouldn’t have any regrets.
