Student reviews

Professors

Student

MMI is an excellent college for service academy preparation. If you are in the SAP program, it is easier to succeed at MMI. The classes are so small that they all fill up quickly, so the classes you must take to graduate are full. There are many opportunities to lead, but only if you are friends with the current cadet leadership.

Campus and vibes

Student

I loved my time at Marion Military. It is not for everyone but it was truly so worth it. It taught me better time management with things like getting up for formations and helped me work on my interview skills because I had to go through interviews to get my campus leadership position. Being at a school like Marion Military is different than being at a larger school in many ways. One of those ways I can think of is being able to know everyone you go to school with and having an overwhelming sense of community.

Student

Another thing that MMI is good at is making sure you manage your time well. There are 2 mandatory formations throughout the day; you must show up to avoid getting in trouble. The few cadets that come to MMI make MMI feel like a big family. Overall, only go to MMI if you are prepared to take rigorous courses and be pushed mentally and physically with your training.

About Marion Military Institute

Marion Military Institute is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all members of the campus community. The college utilizes a combination of off-duty local law enforcement and non-sworn campus security personnel. Emergency notifications are disseminated through official MMI email, the Regroup emergency notification system, and advisory posters.

MMI offers programs like the Early Commissioning Program (ECP) and the Service Academy Program (SAP) for cadets seeking specialized academic and leadership opportunities. The Service Academy Program (SAP) is a freshman year of academic and physical preparation for students who wish to attend one of the Service Academies in the United States. These programs provide rigorous training and preparation for future military service.

International students are welcome at MMI and are fully integrated into cadet life, gaining exposure to U.S. military traditions, academic rigor, and leadership training. MMI serves as a pathway for international students to complete their associate degrees and transfer to prestigious U.S. universities to pursue bachelor’s degrees. The college offers support to help international students succeed in their academic and military pursuits.
