For Freshmen: Get involved in Ollies Follies at the beginning of the year. It's a great way to meet people and is a LOT of fun. Also, get involved in intramural sports or some sort of club of whatever you are interested in. College is a lot more fun if you're not just doing homework all the time.

Don't stress over what dorm you get in your first year. You hear a lot of talk about which dorms are best but when it comes down to it, they're all awesome.

On a small campus like ONU, it is not hard to get involved in some way or another. The first week has a lot of opportunities with everything involved in Ollies Follies and JumpStart. It is also easy to find a group of friends at the beginning of the year and narrow yourself too much.

Make sure this is the kind of college you want to go to. If your looking for a place to grow spiritually and get an education, this is a really awesome place. But there are rules here, so you have to make sure that this is the kind of campus life that you will accept and follow.

Overall, my experience at Olivet Nazarene University has been amazing! My first year I was a commuter so I drove to school for my classes. The school events were fine and I did make some friends, but I had a chance to live on campus my second year and it definitely made a difference.

Current Student

Go to as many events as you can, such as Ollies Follies, and meet as many people as possible. Also sign up for as many scholarships with the University and on sites such as Cappex and Fastweb as you can. Do not be discouraged if you have a lot to pay for Olivet the first year there are several opportunities at the end of your Freshman year that you can sign up for such as Traveling Bands and Foundation Scholarships.

The Department of Public Safety at Olivet Nazarene University works in partnership with the campus community to protect and enhance a secure learning-centered environment. They provide quality service with an emphasis on integrity and professionalism, promoting individual responsibility and cooperative commitment. The university offers 24-hour security patrol, campus emergency phones, and escort safety rides.

Olivet Nazarene University's Honors Program provides academically gifted students the opportunity to develop their scholarly abilities through intensive interdisciplinary coursework, enrichment activities, and a two-year mentored research project. Students receive funding for travel and supplies related to their research projects and complete their studies under the supervision of a faculty mentor. The culmination of students’ research is published in ELAIA: The Olivet Nazarene University Honors Journal.
