I attended Philander Smith University my freshman year and the experience overall was amazing. The professors leadership was great. All of my professors were hands on and made sure I excel. I finished the year being on the dean’s list.

School pride and a wide variety of activities are available to promote student exposure to innovative thinkers who inspire the best in us. Unfortunately, ineffective communication (from community events to class information) is the biggest drawback to Philander.

As a student from the Bahamas, transitioning to a school in the United States was a leap into uncharted territory for me. However, I was met with an incredibly warm and encouraging community, both among the students and the staff. They embraced me as one of their own, providing a sense of family that made my journey away from home much more manageable.
