For incoming art majors: this isn't high school and As are not just handed out. It takes a lot of work, creativity, and time, but it's worth it to stick with it. Don't let the Visual Thinking class scare you away, no one particularly enjoys it.

Campus and vibes

Student

My experience at Shepherd has been nothing short of amazing. From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed by the people here. The sense of community on campus is something I really value — everyone supports each other, whether it’s in class, around campus, or on the field.

Student

As a sophomore at shepherd university, I enjoy it here a lot. The atmosphere and people are great. My favorite time year to be on campus is the football season. The stands have a lot of energy. It is easy to feel like a Shepherd Ram!

Current Student

If you are thinking you might want to come to Shepherd I would encourage you to come and tour the school, that was when I fell in love with the school. It is wonderful if you love small schools, and if you are not sure what size school you prefer, go visit both to decide. If you get in and you decide to come here I would suggest to apply to live in either shaw or thatcher hall for your first year. There are other freshmen dorm rooms but the others do not have air conditioning which is a pain during the hot months. Good Luck!

Current Student

If you like a small school atmosphere then Shepherd is the place for you. Be prepared and submit your application early.

Current Student

Great location, great professors, fun football games and other sports.

Don't wait till last minute to turn in your paper work, everybody is fighting for that one spot such as; the best dorm room, the classes they want, and the highest paying scholarship. You will miss a great opportunity if you procrastinate.

Get to know the town and surrounding area if you don't already.
