Uintah Basin Technical College

Uintah Basin Technical College (UBTech) aims to make education affordable by keeping tuition costs low. External scholarships can cover tuition and fees, and a high percentage of certificate seekers receive scholarships. A large percentage of post-graduate survey respondents report having no debt, highlighting the potential for a debt-free education.

Admission to UBTech's Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs is based on interest and aptitude, age appropriateness, course pre-requisites, and class space availability. The college has an open-door policy with a 100% acceptance rate. Career advising is available to help students enter the workforce, upgrade skills, or change careers.

UBTech offers competency-based learning and individualized instruction, with many programs being self-paced. The college develops programs with ongoing involvement from business and industry partners, adapting quickly to workplace changes. The curriculum is designed to allow students to enroll at any time and progress at their own rate.

UBTech's mission is to provide technical education and training that fulfills labor market needs and promotes economic development in the Uintah Basin. The college has a Workforce Promise program, a three-way commitment between students, employers, and UBTech, ensuring graduates gain soft skills and priority interviews. UBTech is focused on preparing students for success in today's dynamic workforce.

UBTech is committed to being student-centered, service-oriented, and campus & community connected. The college has a main campus in Roosevelt and an extension campus in Vernal, offering convenient schedules. UBTech fosters a supportive environment, as reflected in its high retention rate.

USU Uintah Basin offers an Undergraduate Research Program where students can work with faculty mentors on paid summer internships. These internships provide opportunities to design research projects and present work to the Uintah Basin research community. Research options include wildlife ecology, reptile and amphibian ecology, and medicinal chemistry.

Due to federal requirements, Uintah Basin Technical College is unable to accept international students at this time. However, the college takes steps to assure that the lack of English skills will not be a barrier to admission and participation in all educational skills for other students.
