Professors

College senior

The University at Albany is extremely competitive school. A prospective student "must study to show themselves approved", for example: we doNOT accept all credits from other schools. University at Albany doesNOT accept transfer credits or "degrees" from Bryant and Stratton College! The school barely accepted all of Hudson Valley Community College's credits. DoNOT be deceived you have to perform academically. The courses are rigorous and intense. It's imperative that you make yourself known, or you will be a minnow in an ocean. In concluding we are an academically competitive university!

Campus and vibes

Freshman

The university at Albany is a place I consider to be my home away from home. Although it's a few hours away from the city I've managed to feel welcomed and comfortable by the students and staff at the university. The social events that take place are great to get out your dorm and meet new people and interact and have fun and the bond you make with people and the friends you have now feel like they will be around for a lifetime and frankly I... 'm thankful for the university's acceptance of me. I know applying to this school and deciding to attend was one of the best decisions I have ever made.

Student

My experience at the University at Albany has been largely positive. I appreciated the diversity of the student body, the strong academic programs—especially in areas like public policy, business, and the sciences—and the accessibility of many professors who were genuinely invested in student success. The campus offers good research opportunities, a solid library system, and helpful career resources.

Sophomore

UAlbany is a very diverse school. I have made long lasting friendships and have learned a lot. There are endless opportunities at this school and I wouldn't trade it for anything.

Other

I can't recommend this school enough! It was simply wonderful. The people are friendly, lots of wonderful clubs, professors genuinely care about students! 10/10! It could be safer, and the food is mid.

Junior

Living on campus was a big part of my experience. I got to meet a lot of people, and build a small community that made the campus feel like home. Thsocial and convenient, and the late-night conversations, events, and overall environment made it easy to connect with others. I also used a lot of campus resources like CAPS, TimelyCare, tutoring, and the career center, and they really helped when I needed support or guidance. There are tons of clubs and leadership opportunities if you look for them. I do think things like class registration, and dining variety could be better, but overall I’d recommend UAlbany to students who get involved and make the most out of the experience.
