Student reviews

Professors

Senior

Being from the Bay Area in California, I had a lot of great schools in the area. However, the reason I chose the University of Nevada, Reno was because of the great journalism program! Not only have I gained valuable knowledge, but I’ve benefited from travel journalism and opportunities outside of both the state and the country which is something I would’ve never been able to do.

Junior

Getting into a major is as simple as talking to a guidance counselor and signing up for classes. The counselors are helpful and honest in regards to class difficulty and job opportunity. UNR accepts SAT or ACT scores.

Campus and vibes

Junior

My experience at the University of Nevada, Reno has been both challenging and rewarding. UNR pushed me to grow not only academically, but personally and professionally. I appreciated the opportunities to work hands-on with the community, build meaningful relationships with professors, and apply what I learned outside the classroom.

Junior

I have lived on campus for all of my time at UNR and am currently working in the residence halls with pretty great benefits. I have gotten an overall good quality education, just some class structure and professors have not been the best. Great student life and events / resources (!!!) for students on campus.

Junior

As a junior I am very happy I chose this university. I love going to school here and living in the city. They have lots of ways to get involved and great professors.

Junior

I am a junior and have enjoyed all of my classes. I would recommend taking 1-2 classes online during your semesters and joining as many clubs as possible. All of the clubs are super fun as well as the events put on by our student government.

Alumni

If you're an incoming freshman from a Nevada school, it's so easy to get the schooling covered for the duration of the degree provided you keep up your GPA and keep tabs on scholarship deadlines. My experience was different because I was a transfer student. I didn't get an incoming scholarship, nor was I able to renew it despite being a graduate from a Nevada high school.
