Student reviews

Professors

Sophomore

I entered Brandeis with the hopes of becoming a Neuroscience major and possibly double major it with Psychology. However, that all changed with my decision to study Sociology instead. Brandeis is known to be academically rigorous with an emphasis on social justice. Social justice is, in my opinion, a contentious issue because there are still problems regarding instances of racism from campus police to on-campus housing authorities (plus, if you're BIPOC you WILL face indirect forms of racism).

Junior

Brandeis is an amazing school with top-rate professors and academics. The student body community is largely social-justice oriented and very kind. Courses are challenging but extremely engaging, and I have only had a couple professors that haven't been absolutely wonderful and inspiring. Clubs and other extracurriculars are also a big part of student life at Brandeis; most students are heavily involved in at least one club or organization.

Campus and vibes

Sophomore

Pro: -Free shuttle to Boston. -Clubs are all inclusive, no club can reject anyone, so everyone is welcome to every club. -Intramural sports are fun. -Offer a lot of on campus jobs for students. Great way to make a bit of money. Cons: -People here are friendly, but not your friend. Super cliquey. You have make all your friends in the first week of freshman year, or else your not going to have any friends for the rest of college.

Sophomore

Brandeis University is a place where I feel welcomed into the community, though this is specific to the People of Color community. I absolutely love all of my friends. If there was one thing I think Brandeis could improve on though, I would say it would be to take a more active role in making all students feel welcomed. I think people tend to feel welcomed to specific communities and then are kind of stuck in that category. I think Brandeis could do better at making sure our community as a whole interacts with one another. But overall, I do love the school!!

Senior

Ron Liebowitz paints a picture to the schoolboard that the school is going well while students are k!ll!ng themselves, dorms are breaking down, acceptance rate is going up, and quality of life is going down. Meanwhile funding to humanities programs are being significantly cut in favor of a barely thought out and poorly implemented engineering program.

Cost and value

Freshman

First, the school oversells its proximity to Boston big time. The shuttle is unreliable and slow, making it a hassle to get into the city. Brandeis is NOT a Boston school or even close, regardless of how much they advertise it as such. The financial aid office is extremely rude and keeps threatening my aid (?).
