Professors

Student

I had a positive experience during my undergraduate education at FIU. Nevertheless, it is almost impossible to get into their graduate programs. I tried applying to the doctoral psychology program and the counselor strongly discouraged me from applying, his exact words were “it’s really difficult to get into this program, only about 7 students get in per year out of about 1000 applicants”.

Campus and vibes

Current Student

My overall experience at Florida International University has been positive. FIU offers a diverse and welcoming campus environment, with students from many different backgrounds, which makes it easy to feel included. The professors I’ve had were knowledgeable and supportive, and there are plenty of academic resources available, such as tutoring, advising, and career services.

Cost and value

Student

The financial aid office is a pain whenever they mess up on something, but the tuition is worth it.

Student

Compared to most other universities FIU is quite affordable. My average semester runs for about $3000 (16-17 credits). Living expenses are probably a bigger issue, but if you don't mind sharing with fellow students you can split the rent (you might be paying about $400 per month) or live on campus.
