Campus and vibes

Junior

I took time away from school because of life issues. After moving from my hometown and settling in North Carolina I made the decision to go back to school to finish my degree and it was the best decision I have ever made. It was such a boost to my confidence being back in a school setting and making friends with fellow classmates. I have learned so much from my professors and other students. I could like to see change is the very expensive cost of higher education. At times paying for school out of pocket can be very stressful.

Student

Johnson C. Smith University was a great college. I received my bachelors of science degree majoring in public health. The public health department was amazing, the staff was really nice and they were there when I needed them pertaining to pursuing my graduate studies. I also was on the women’s tennis team for four years. We placed second overall in the championships located in Baltimore, Maryland. I was also a part of a sorority, zeta phi beta sorority Incorporated. The campus life was the best part. The college is near downtown Charlotte and there’s tons to do.

Student

Personally, I am not the best advocate for this university. I approached my freshman year of college unaware of the school or the area and I am more amused by the scenery of Charlotte. As for the school, professors, the administrative team, and staff do their part in helping students establish careers and reach long-term goals. But, unfortunately I do not feel a part of a community, for a place that is "home away from home" I am yet to find my safe place socially. I find it hard to engage with others or fit it socially, at times I feel like an outcast, and this is because of those communities already established. They don't seem to be open for reconstruction or constructive criticism causing them to be insensitive to other peoples needs.

Student

What I Liked Friendly People: Everyone at the university, including teachers and students, were very nice and welcoming. It felt like being part of a big family. Beautiful Campus: The campus is really pretty with lots of trees, flowers, and places to sit and relax. It was a nice place to walk around.

Student

I've always been the shy kid who sat in the back of the class and not talk to anyone outside of the teacher. Since first entering Johnson C. Smith, I've been able to come out of my shell a little bit and blossom. I'm making more friends, joining more extracurricular activities on campus, and networking with individuals outside of campus and experts in my chosen field of study. I am proud to be a Golden Bull and am excited for what God has in store for me later down the road of life. Go Bulls!
