Student reviews

Professors

Current Student

Although just a community college, NRCC has great advisors and facilities. Being a smaller school has its advantages, as you tend to have a more one-on-one experience with professors and advisors. The quality of teaching has been pretty good for a community college, and most professors are there to see you succeed.

Current Student

The incompetence of the staff is unsettling; they are determined to make me take UNNECESSARY classes that will not be applied toward my degree. If you are a student who does not care about getting the correct degree quickly then New River Community College will be a fine fit for you.

Current Student

Even when I technically finished all the credits required to graduate, they still helped me with my credits for my major for when I transfer to Radford University. The professors I got to have conversations with were some of the nicest, most helpful professors I have had. I am thankful for having to graduate this academic year, and to finish one more Summer semester before I transfer.

I had a great experience with New River Community College. The faculty and staff are very supportive, and will provide assistance when needed. I have gained a well-rounded education and taken classes I enjoy. My education at New River has prepared me for the workforce if I choose to start my career.

Current Student

The size of New River allows you to connect with faculty, be seen, and supported in ways that fit your personal needs.

Current Student

I loved the small class sizes and the interaction between me and the professors. I made so many new friendships that I never thought would last so long or have so much meaning to me since the friends I had in high school. I got in through their two year tuition-free college program known as ACCE, which is available to those who lived in the areas listed on their website.

Student

I am returning to school after several years and the faculty and staff have made this experience very enjoyable.

Student

My time at New River Community College was well spent! It allowed me to get my associate’s degree while still in high school. Everything was great! I only had a disliking for one teacher because of some misunderstanding of my medical issues.
