Student reviews

Campus and vibes

Current Student

The classes are challenging but understandable if one studies on their own time. The food on campus is good, and the dining plan helps to not spend my own money for food. I was a bit dissapointed when VCU encouraged students to look for jobs on Handshake when the majority of them where taken down due to lack of funding. The campus is pretty safe and clean, but places outside of the campus are not so safe for students. The professors are mostly willing to help and are respectable people, but sometimes, one or two professors aren't that good at teaching.

Overall my experience so far has gone well. Getting around campus is pretty easy and my schedule isn't too hard to maintain. There are a variety of student orgs available, and combined with the athletic programs everyone can find something to be a part of. It's really great that it's integrated with the city of Richmond, and it makes for a unique social atmosphere.

Campus life at VCU is full of energy. I’ve met people from many different backgrounds, and being part of such a diverse environment has helped me learn a lot about teamwork and communication. Joining tech-related clubs and volunteering to teach kids basic coding skills have been some of my favorite experiences so far.
