Student reviews

Professors

Student

I had a very positive experience at Southwest Virginia Community College as a fully online student. Overall, most of my instructors were highly responsive and provided well-organized, clearly explained course modules that were easy to follow and complete. However, there were one or two professors I would not recommend, primarily due to limited communication and inconsistent updates to the course syllabus and grading.

Student

Students frequently highlight the college's flexibility in course scheduling and the availability of hybrid and online classes, which allow them to balance work and studies effectively. The hybrid classes, especially in programs like Occupational Therapy Assistant, provide a blend of remote learning and in-person sessions, facilitating job retention while pursuing education. This flexibility is a key advantage for students managing various commitments.

I came to this College as an international student athlete, and I really liked my experience at the college. It was the right decision to go there for me. The College accepted me as a part of their "family" and I found a lot of new good friends there. The faculty and staff are all really nice and always happy to help.

Many students find that Southwest Virginia Community College provides valuable resources such as a large, clean library with internet access and online library services, as well as tech support via online chat. The athletic center is well-equipped with modern facilities, and the campus offers amenities like a gym, basketball courts, tennis courts, and an outdoor track. These resources support both academic and extracurricular pursuits effectively.

Student

Balancing multiple responsibilities appeared to affect their availability, which created some challenges for students. For someone like me, who values staying informed about academic progress, delays in grading caused unnecessary anxiety and stress, particularly when grades were not posted until the end of the term. Despite these isolated issues, my overall experience was very positive, and I would gladly attend Southwest Virginia Community College again.
