I started I attending USM in fall of 2019 in hopes of being in the nursing program by fall of 2021. I attended this school for two years getting my prerequisites just to be denied by the program twice. I had a good gpa, great Kaplan score, as well as a good ACT score.... I was not accepted but there were people around me that applied and got accepted with lower scores than me.

I transferred to the University of Southern Mississippi after I did my first two years at Pearl River Community College. I am a Sociology major, and all of my classes are fully online; the sociology program has many useful classes that I believe will help me succeed in my career after I graduate. They are very accommodating of my needs as an online student and provide a wide range of services and support to help students succeed both academically and emotionally.

USM transformed my life. My bachelors degree was from a top 10 public university, but I spent most of my time partying; my GPA was 2.9. Fortunately, I was still able to get accepted to a top 20 public university for my masters, but I took on burdensome student loans to pay for it.... After working full time for a few years, I realized I wanted to become a professor (I had taught adjunct as a side gig several semesters at my Alma Mater). My masters GPA was decent (3.35) but I always had competitive standardized test scores.

I like how the college is always willing to work with it's students and gives people a sense of unity by having inclusive and diverse clubs. I think this diverseness is great because it shows that everyone is welcomed to this school. The dorms are extremely nice and most of them have a personal bathroom.... It also has bikes that you can rent for free to go around campus and the town with which makes it less expensive transportation wise.

It was very easy to apply. The campus is very nice and seems very safe. The university is very quick to respond and keep you up to date on your status during the the application processes.

I love attending the University of Southern Mississippi so far because it offers a strong blend of open arms, hospitality, and beautiful surroundings. The supportive faculty and smaller class sizes promise opportunities for mentorship and individualized attention. USM’s cultural diversity and rich arts and music programs would let me explore multiple interests.
