Amazing views and lots of nearby hiking/walking trails to go on while procrastinating. The nearest grocery store is an hour walk, but you get free bus passes as a student (there's also a gas station and a small on-campus market). The teachers and staff go out of their way to help you (I highly recommend studying at the learning center and/or writing center). The freshman dorms are new and awesome; the apartments are noticeably older. There aren't many clubs, but there's a fair variety. The gaming club is pretty awesome. Students also form study groups and random gaming/DND/hiking groups. Nobody's going to force you out of your dorm, though- getting involved is up to you. The daily special at the market is good (especially the salmon). There's also a good selection from the Grill and more instant ramen than you'll ever need. That said, the weekend hours are a pain, and if you're late to get food, it sits out for a while. I've personally had a great time here!

UAS is absolutely the right school for me. It's small size allows me to form personal relationships with professors, administration, and staff. Our student services staff (including disability services) are very passionate and willing to help. Our campus housing is miles above most schools, though the meal plan is not very good.

This school is full of passionate people who care about your education. There are also lots of opportunities for on-campus jobs and research. This is by no means a party school, but you will have no trouble socializing, and there's always the bars off campus. There are a few areas where we are underfunded, but those problems are not deal-breakers for me. I love UAS, and I am proud of my school. We have many peculiarities that come with our small size, but I think they mostly add to what is good about this school.
