Student reviews

Campus and vibes

Current Student

During my time here at Western Carolina University, I have come out of my shell and have my life to the fullest here. I have made many friends and great connections with my professors, students in my classes, and the local community. Something I found very vaulted during my freshmen year was I was put into a living-learning community with other education majors.

Current Student

I love Western Carolina University. The campus is located in Cullowhee NC, in a beautiful valley. The town of Sylva is right beside western and is quite small but the small town feel is so welcoming. The surrounding towns also have a welcoming feeling, and the mountains just make it 100% better.

Current Student

The campus is pretty spread out with dorms being close of center of campus or far, just depending what you want. The dorms are kept up nice and clean. Student life ranges from Greek to Religion groups to workout groups.

Current Student

Groupx classes are workout classes that help students stay active, they have a wide variety of classes. Western also has what I believe is a good selection of Greek, I am not apart of Greek so I won't speak more on that. Overall Western is a great school for someone who wants to have a small school but still have multiple activities to do and enjoy.

Cost and value

Current Student

The cost to attend is reasonable and the quality of the school is amazing for the low costs. The convenience of food is good and the quality. Western also provides many services to help you academically, advisors are there to help step by step. They have disability services and Student Support Services.

Current Student

WCU is one of the most affordable colleges in the UNC system, with approximate cost of attendance being $7000 per semester for in-state students and $12,000 per semester for out-of-state students.

Current Student

Tuition recently increased, but other than that, the facilities are well-maintained and the education is definitely worth it.
